Nick Broomfield: KURT & COURTNEY

Part of the Nick Broomfield Retrospective
Dir: Nick Broomfield
United Kingdom / 1998 / 95mins

One of his most controversial films, Kurt and Courtney sees Nick Broomfield set out to discover whether there is any truth in the conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Nirvana’s lead singer, Kurt Cobain. Delving into the world of rumours, the focus starts to shift to Cobain’s wife, Courtney Love, and speculations about her involvement in his death.

In his signature self-reflexive style, Broomfield pushes forward despite Love’s refusal to be involved in the film and decides to confront her with the evidence he’s amassed.
