*SPECIAL EVENT: REVENGE OF THE MEKONS + Q&A

Dir: Joe Angio
United States / United Kingdom / 2015 / 95mins

“The Mekons are the most revolutionary group in the history of rock ‘n’ roll” – rock critic Lester Bangs.

Emerging from the first blast of UK punk rock, the Mekons were notorious for being "the band that took punk ideology most seriously." Director Joe Angio charts the group's improbable history, from socialist art students with no musical skills to their reinvention as rabble-rousing progeny of Hank Williams, with many detours along the way. Four decades into a still-evolving career, the Mekons continue to make original, genre-defying music while, as this film proves, staying true to the punk ethos.

Director Joe Angio will be joined by Mekons co-founder Kevin Lycett and Mekons past and present including Mark White, Andy Corrigan, Susie Honeyman, Robert Worby, Sarah Corina, and deputy Mekon Mitch Flacko.

JUST ANNOUNCED: The Q&A will be hosted by Colm McAuliffe - Cork Film Festival programmer and writer for New Statesman, The Guardian, Sight & Sound, Film4 and The Quietus!
